Another new symptom of coronavirus detected

In the United States, the country most affected by the coronavirus in the world, doctors have discovered another new symptom of the coronavirus.

The new symptom of the virus resides in the toes or fingers of affected people, especially in white people. It’s called the Covid toe. The good part is that it appears in asymptomatic and severe cases.

The World Health Organization has cited fever, fatigue, dry cough, body aches, stuffy nose, runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhea as common symptoms of the virus.

Now, American doctors have said that the purple and swollen toes that appeared to be frozen could be the last indication of coronavirus infection. The new symptom could be the last indication that you should get tested for coronavirus.

The American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) launched a registry last week to track the dermatological effects that patients with the COVID-19 virus may experience and has received more than 200 submissions from healthcare providers.

Dr. Esther Freeman, dermatologist, an epidemiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital and faculty member at Harvard Medical School, manages the registry in collaboration with the AAD.

Freeman noted about half of the cases in the registry note have lesions in the hands or feet that look like frostbite.

Other symptoms include anosmia or loss of smell. Another sign is conjunctivitis, also called pink eye.

The American Academy of Ophthalmology recently suggested that it could be a sign of the virus.
