Beyonce is inspired by Africa, farce, or Reality?

American star Beyonce is preparing for a world tour. For the needs of the poster, she was inspired by Senegalese cinema.

In the photo, we see Beyonce sitting on a motorcycle behind her husband. A motorcycle that recalls that of “Touki Bouki”, a Senegalese film by Djibril Diop Mambéty released in the 70s. What we notice first is the horns of zebu.

Some critics see this as a final homage from Beyonce to the African continent but are still on their hunger, because the global star has so far not produced in Africa.

A tribute to Africa

Beyonce and Jay-Z are used to be using African references. Between their outfits, their visual worlds and their references, they often draw inspiration from African wealth.

This time, they chose a classic that won the International Critics Award at the Cannes Film Festival the same year. In 2011, Beyonce was inspired by Pantsula, a dance from South Africa, which she had made with dancers from Mozambique. Two years later, she quoted a Nigerian novelist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie as Flawless.

The list is not exhaustive because in 2016 also, for her album Lemonade, she had a hairstyle that reminded the Egyptian queen Nefertiti.

A marketing tribute bordering the farce

Carter is continually seeking inspiration in Africa. However, the African critics show their fed up on social networks.

They blame the American couple for never having occurred in Africa. On their Run tours, and On the Run II, they have not planned a date in Africa. The Worse, was when Beyonce used the image of “Touki Bouki” (the journey of the hyena), she does not even quote its source. In 2016, when an Ivorian company wanted to invite her for a private show, she asked for an exorbitant sum.
