Braille guide: blind people will vote in Nigeria 2019 election

For the first time in Nigeria, visually impaired people will vote without assistance in the next elections.

They will take part in particular in the presidential election which will take place next February. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the country will make available to them a voting guide in Braille to enable them to participate independently in the polls and to guarantee the secrecy of their vote.

The development of this guide in Nigeria has cost millions in the country. The visually impaired felt somewhat marginalized in Nigeria, particularly with regard to voting.

They have always wanted to be autonomous and fulfil their civic duty. In this country of nearly 200 million people, it is estimated that the blind are a significant part of voters.
