Cat steals many shoes that his owner create Facebook group to return them

Meet Jordan, a cat from Altoona, Pennsylvania, who has a striking ‘hobby’ of stealing shoes. Every night the meowing thief goes out to steal shoes from the neighbors.

His owners now have such a large collection of strange footwear that they have started a Facebook group in the hope of helping the neighbors get their sneakers, flip-flops, and slippers back on. “Nowadays Jordan drags one, two or three shoes home every night,” owner BJ Ross tells WTAJ TV.

“Last year he sometimes brought dead mice and birds, or empty chip bags and even a glove,” explains the American. “But since January, I noticed that shoes suddenly started popping up in my garden. I threw them away; first, I didn’t understand. But they became more and more. At one point, my mother told us to keep the shoes. People had lost them!”

“At one point, we were 37 shoes later…” says Ross. And so, a thorough investigation was required. What it really was Jordan who stole all those shoes, as the family suspected? Ross placed a tracking device around the hangover’s neck to track his nighttime adventures. A camera was also pointed at the garden.

Yes, that little black and white thief appears to be going from house to house, looking for unguarded footwear. The creature even covers excellent distances, which can be deduced from the GPS device. The camera in the garden nicely captures Jordan jumping over the fence with a shoe in his mouth. Got caught!

The fluffy slyster is proud of his booty. And the counter, it keeps running. Meanwhile, the Ross family sits on a mountain of more than 50 stolen shoes.

Now that the family has set up a Facebook group around Jordan, among other things to help duped neighbors get back on their shoes and to share the remarkable virtues of their cat with the world, the thieving cat goes viral.

“I’ve already received messages from all over the country that this is making people’s day really good,” says Ross. “With all the bad things happening in the world today, this puts a smile on the faces of many.”

For the record, a journalist from WTAJ TV pushed a microphone under the nose of the notorious shoe thief himself. Does he have anything to say about all that stealing? Jordan’s body language says it all. “No comment.”
