Farewell to ‘Angel’ Adriana Lima after 18 years as model

Brazilian top model Adriana Lima has taken off her wings as an ‘angel’ for the American lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret. After eighteen years she walked last night in New York on the catwalk during the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

“Dear Victoria. Thank you for showing me the world, sharing your secrets. And – most importantly – not only giving me wings. But also letting me fly,” Adriana wrote on her Instagram account. Giving her “the best fans” in the world also sent a heart.

The 37-year-old Adriana attended the Pier 94 event centre in New York. For the eighteenth time in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, the world’s most watched fashion show. The Brazilian was connected to Victoria’s Secret for twenty years.

Emotionally and with her hands on her heart she put her last steps on the catwalk, while the long white ‘angel wings’ flew gently. The audience cheered for the mother of two daughters, Valentina and Sienna, who were both present at the farewell. Meanwhile, the sounds of Fatboy Slims Praise You sounded. And on a large screen a video tribute to Adriana was played, in which she was called ‘the greatest angel of all time’.

“At the beginning of my career, I thought I would become less nervous with the years,” said the Brazilian with the blue eyes for the show against journalists. “But no, I’m just as nervous now as for my first show for Victoria’s Secret.”

She shared the catwalk with well-known fellow angels like Kendall Jenner, Candice Swanepoel and the sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid.
