France kills leader al-Qaeda in Mali

French forces killed a leader of the terrorist organization al-Qaeda on Tuesday, November 10. This is reported by the French Defense Minister, Florence Parly, who describes the killed Bah Ag Moussa as a “historical figure within the jihadist movement in the Sahel”.

Moussa was killed in a military operation in which both ground troops and helicopters were deployed. The jihadist, also known as Bamoussa Diarra, was previously a colonel of the Malian Armed Forces.

He was known as the right-hand man of Iyad Ag Ghali, the leader of the jihadist Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam Wal-Muslimin.

France is more likely to carry out attacks on jihadists in the region. The country has stationed some 5,000 troops there.

In the vast expanse of Mali, there has also been an international force under the United Nations’ flag for years.
