Indonesia: Tsunami alert after earthquake in Lombok

The magnitude 7 earthquake triggered ten kilometers deep on Lombok Island in Indonesia this Sunday, according to the US Institute of Geophysics.

A tsunami warning has also been announced.

A magnitude 7 earthquake shook the Indonesian island of Lombok, neighboring Bali, on Sunday.

According to the US Geological Survey Institute (USGS) that announces that “there is a risk of tsunami”.

Nevertheless, no victim is to be deplored for the moment.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 15 km deep, said the Indonesian Disaster Prevention Agency, adding that the earthquake had triggered a tsunami warning.

Lombok is home to Mount Rinjani, Indonesia’s second highest active volcano.
