Madagascar’s “Covid-Organics” is effective for cough but not against Covid-19

According to Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Dr. Ehanire, the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development (NIPRD) has demonstrated in a report on the evaluation of Madagascar’s Covid-Organics, its ineffectiveness against the disease of the new Coronavirus.

“The initial report had shown that its main ingredient is the same as Artemisia Anua, while the high-dose preparation showed activity to reduce the frequency of coughing, it showed no evidence that it has any real curative properties against COVID-19. However, we will continue to support all genuine efforts to find local remedies for Covid-19.”

The Nigerian Minister of Health made this revelation at the press conference of the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 held on Monday 23 July 2020. He said the This Day Dome isolation center has finally started admitting 19 cases of Covid.

“It is the most comprehensive of our treatment centers, fully equipped to handle mild, severe, and even critical Covid-19 cases. It has ventilators, oxygen concentrators, and even dialysis machines.”

The Minister concluded by reminding Nigerians that although Covid-19 may have the same symptoms like fever with malaria, Covid-19 is not malaria.

“However, symptoms such as cough, sore throat, fever, loss of taste or smell, difficulty breathing, headache and, less frequently, diarrhea, body aches, catarrh, chills, fatigue, especially when several symptoms occur simultaneously, are suggestive. If you have any symptoms of Covid-19; a test is required, please call your state hotline or visit a sample collection center, which can be found on the NCDC website,” he said.

Forty thousand cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Nigeria and 850 deaths so far, but the reality is, according to many observers, far more worrying.
