The winner of Miss world 2019, Toni-Ann Singh made an impression during the competition with her performance of the song ‘I Have Nothing’ by Whitney Houston. “The audience are on their feet,” said the organization in a tweet.

After her election, Singh said she wants to use her title to bring about “sustainable change” for women and their children. “I want to ensure sustainable change. When it comes to women, it has to be something that gives their children and their children’s children a different value in life,” said the exuberant winner of Miss world 2019, after receiving the crown on her head from last year’s winner, Mexican Vanessa Ponce.

When Toni-Ann Singh was asked about the value of beauty competitions as the Miss World election in times of #metoo and the struggle for equality and respect for women, the student at Florida State University said that beauty was the least important part of her victory for her.

“It’s fine to celebrate things like beauty, power and stuff like that. But this is so much more,” she said, embracing her proud parents Jahrine and Bradshaw.

“To that little girl in St. Thomas, Jamaica and all the girls around the world – please believe in yourself. Please know that you are worthy and capable of achieving your dreams. This crown is not mine but yours. You have a PURPOSE,” tweeted Miss World 2019, Toni-Ann Singh.
