Nigeria: Lagos and its port congested by a monster traffic jam

The port of Lagos and its surroundings have been paralyzed for more than 8 months by a permanent traffic jam.

Trucks from all over Nigeria are trapped due to renovations on the main axis leading to the Port of Apapa.

As a result, long lines of trucks over several kilometres amplify the traffic problems on the mainland of the megacity.

The port of Lagos is based on two areas: Apapa and Tin Can Island, and these two areas report nearly 70% of Nigeria’s customs revenue, according to experts.

After several ultimatums, the Nigerian Navy has decided for nearly a month to filter the access of trucks to the port.
