Paul Biya re-elected at the age of 85 as President of Cameroon

In Cameroon, Paul Biya, who, at the age of 85, made a move to a seventh consecutive time, is re-elected with 71.28 percent of the votes. President Clément Atangana of the Constitutional Council announced this on Monday.

As a candidate of the opposition, Maurice Kamto, who claimed victory the day after the ballot of 7 October, came to 14.23 percent. Third is Cabral Libii with 6.28 percent.

Biya has been running the central African country for almost 36 years. Since he came to power in 1982, he won every election. But after each ballot, the opposition complained about irregularities.
