Prison escapees promise to return after “settling some matters”

Two detainees who escaped from an Italian prison left a note for the guards. The men wrote that they had to arrange some personal matters and then come back again, according to the Repubblica newspaper.

The cousins Davad Zukanovic (40) and Lil Ahmetovic (46) were able to run away last week. They used a fire hose to climb over a wall at the Rebibbia prison in Rome.

In their cell, they left the note with text and explanation. According to the note, the men fled because they had to protect their children.

They would have gotten into trouble in a drug trafficking case. The cousins said they had to take action themselves because their wives are also behind bars.

The duo, who were stuck for nonviolent crimes like fraud, swear they have no intention of leaving with the Northern Sun. They expect to be able to register again in about fifteen days if they have settled their matters.
