Rooney is furious after adultery rumors: “Enough is enough”

Earlier this week, photos appeared to show that footballer Wayne Rooney (33) reportedly committed adultery. His wife Coleen (33) would be furious and demand that her husband, who is currently playing in America, come home immediately. But according to Wayne, nothing is wrong, and the British newspaper The Sun lies about the facts.

“Enough is enough,” writes Wayne Rooney on his Twitter handle. The footballer reacts to the photos that The Sun published earlier this week. It shows how Wayne stands next to a ravishing brunette in a hotel in the Canadian city of Vancouver.

According to the British newspaper, the drunk Rooney would have ended a seven-hour pub crawl with an adventure at the Hyatt Regency hotel, where he was staying. “Wayne was joking with that lady. They waited a moment for the elevator to come and stepped into it together,” an eyewitness told The Sun, who said that it was an attractive woman with tattoos on her arm. Wife Coleen would, of course, not be happy with these new adultery rumors.

But Rooney can’t laugh with those accusations. “The Sun this week ran a front page story making it look like I took a girl to my team hotel,” writes the football player. “They know that it’s not true and that I that I did not. They using mine and my family’s name to sell newspapers.” And he firmly says: “Nothing happened between me and any girl in Vancouver that night. I did not enter a lift alone with the girl pictured in the hotel foyer.” And “the girl pictured in the club was simply one of the many who innocently asked for autographs and pictures.”

Slander

Rooney claims that a freelance photographer followed him and his teammates without his knowledge or permission. “The pictures sold to the newspaper were selected and edited to create a sensational and completely untrue story about me.”

“This whole story was a smear against me. It is damaging to my family and not something I am prepared to put up with,” he concluded.

It is not the first time that Wayne and Coleen have to deal with marital problems. The couple – who have four children – have been together since they were 16 years old. In 2017, the football player was caught drunk with another woman in the passenger seat. Coleen then wrote on Facebook: “No, I don’t have to take Wayne back home, because he never left. Yes, it has been a mess, and yes, we have spent time separately, and I thought my marriage was over. But Wayne is not portrayed correctly in the media, and he always has a hard time there. I’m not going to list his good qualities, because he doesn’t deserve that now, but he is a great father. He has made crazy and selfish mistakes, and he has learned something from some and not others. But maybe that will change?”
