Senegalese man (42) confesses that he killed his Belgian wife (72)

A 42-year-old man from Senegal confessed to killing one of his wives. It concerns a Belgian woman of 72 years old who had been missing since October. The Senegalese gendarmerie reports this on Tuesday.

On Monday, the news site DakarActu reported that an eight-year-old Belgian, who had been reported missing for a few weeks, had been found dead in a field in Thiès, some seventy kilometers east of the capital Dakar. Her husband had been arrested.

Local media now report that it would be the Belgian Josée Thielemans. She appears to be 72 years old. The woman’s body was exhumed last weekend when her husband had indicated, near Thiès, the town where they lived, the gendarmerie said.

Headbutt

The body was taken to Dakar hospital, and the investigation is “ongoing,” according to the same source.

The husband, who has been in jail since Sunday, “confessed to the crime” and allegedly stated that he “headbutted his wife during a marital fight on October 4, which was fatal.”

According to Senegalese media, the victim had lived in Thiès in a house that was hers since 2011. She shared it with another wife and other relatives of her husband. She would have complained to a neighbor and friend about the living conditions.

It is that neighbor who raised the alarm in mid-October when Josée inexplicably disappeared.
