Stars get everything at The Fashion Awards 2018 [Photos]

Yesterday the annual of ‘The Fashion Awards 2018’ took place in London, and a lot of stars showed their best side. Meghan Markle, Kate Moss and Kendall Jenner, among others, were all in excellent outfits. Of course, it is also difficult to do otherwise on an evening that is all about fashion.

Besides looking at stars, prizes were of course also awarded. Clare Waight Keller, artistic director of Givenchy and known to the general public as designer of the wedding dress by Meghan Markle, received the award for ‘British women’s fashion designer of the year’. Awarded by – you guessed it – the Duchess of Sussex herself. According to the British Fashion Council, Keller was chosen as the winner for her “formidable contribution to the British fashion industry”.

Fashion house Gucci also won two prizes, namely in the category ‘Brand of the Year’ and CEO Marco Bizzarri received the award of ‘Business Leader’. Italian designer Pierpaolo Piccolini, who works for Valentino, went home with the award for ‘Designer of the Year’. As mentioned earlier, Miuccia Prada received the award for ‘Outstanding Achievement’ for her contribution to the fashion industry in all those years she is already in the business.

Awards

Virgil Abloh, the man who founded Off-White and also works for Louis Vuitton, was awarded the ‘Urban Luxe’ award. Demna Gvasalia from Balenciaga and Vêtements won the prize of ‘Accessory Designer of the Year’. Parley for the Oceans, the company with which Adidas cooperated, for example, to make sneakers of plastic waste, received the ‘Recognition Award for Innovation’ again.

In terms of British fashion talent, according to the British Fashion Council, Craig Green is the ‘Best British designer of men’s fashion in 2018’. Samuel Ross of the A-Cold-Wall label won in the same category, but then as new talent. Richard Quinn received the award for ‘Emerging British talent women’s fashion’.

The Swarovski Award for Positive Change went to Vivienne Westwood for her commitment to humanitarian and environmental issues. Photographer duo Mert and Marcus won the ‘Isabelle Blow award for Fashion Creator of the Year’ and Kaia Gerber, daughter of top model Cindy Crawford, is the model of the year.
