Thailand tests corona vaccine on monkeys after success in mice

Thai scientists have started testing a corona vaccine on monkeys after successful experiments with mice. The minister of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation announced this today.

Suvit Maesincee said he hopes to report the first positive results of the primate tests in September. He emphasized that if the drug works, it will benefit all people around the world and not just the Thai people.

The Thai vaccine, one of more than a hundred in development worldwide, is expected to go into production at the earliest next year.

In the Asian country, only 56 people have died as a result of the coronavirus. The number of infections so far is slightly above 3,000.

A Thai boxing match on March 6 in Bangkok turned out to be the most significant seat of the fire. At least 104 attendees contracted the virus.
