The ranking of 2020 African Military Strength

In the ranking of 2020 Global Firepower Military Strength for African, Egypt still maintains the first position of the most potent Military Strength in Africa, followed by Algeria and South Africa.

According to the 2020 ranking on military strength in Africa by Global Firepower, there are a total of 35 African countries included in the new list of Military Strength (2020). The GFP list uses more than 50 factors in their internal formula to determine a country’s Power Index score (“PwrIndx”).

These factors provide the final ranking while allowing smaller, more technologically advanced countries to compete with larger, less developed countries.

Some additional bonuses and penalties are added for the case of refinement which, in the end, GFP hopes to “present an unbiased view of the potential conventional military strength of global power”.

Egypt

Egypt still maintained the first position in Africa and has one of the largest armies on the black continent with a growing local defense industry, according to Global Firepower’s 2020 military ranking.

The ranking of 2020 African Military Strength

The 2020 ranking assesses the diversity of each country’s weapons and pays particular attention to available human resources, geography, logistical capacity, and available natural resources.

While Egypt rank first this year in African, it moved up to 9 positions globally. Algeria and South Africa still maintained their ranking from 2019 to 2020. Nigeria ranks 4th this year.
