This “harmless” symptom that can signal cancer

Pimples, rashes, and other skin changes play an essential role for doctors in the early detection of diseases, including internal organs, and these symptoms can even be clues to cancer.

Some signs in the skin can sometimes signal severe problems in the body and be symptomatic of cancer development.

“Itching can, indeed, accompany oncological diseases. It should be noted that this sign is more frequent in hematological tumors,” explained Russian doctor Dmitri Olkin, a member of the European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), in an interview with the newspaper ‘Komsomolskaya’

He noted that itching was less common in solid tumors, those with localization, such as lung, breast, bowel, or bone cancer.

Diabetes and cancer

Dmitri Olkine confirmed the statement of the German specialist Yael Adler, who issued a warning about this dermatological symptom. The condition of the skin changes in the presence of almost any disease, she said.

“Our skin tells us that our interior is sick,” explains in an interview with Focus Online.

Skin can also herald serious illness, and an itch is a particularly important red flag, especially if it occurs for no apparent reason, according to Yael Adler. It should be taken seriously because it could signal serious diseases such as diabetes, but also cancer.

Anyone who discovers changes to their skin should get checked out by a dermatologist, Dmitri concluded.
