Toothpaste tip against sagging breasts goes viral, but experts are not convinced on the ingredients and how it works. “As you get older, your skin becomes less elastic. Then the force of gravity comes into play”
Thanks to YouTube and Instagram, you can find a lot of beauty bloggers on the worldwide web who share their self-made life hacks and DIY tips with everyone who wants to hear it.
Handy to learn, but occasionally you also come across sheer nonsense. Like now: a vlogger is under fire because she claims that toothpaste makes your bosom firmer.
A certain Edith – who uses the name Naturalbeauty556 on YouTube – has posted a rather striking video. In it she explains that you have to mix toothpaste, flour, protein and cucumber slices and then spread them over your chest. After only 5 days, your breasts would become firmer. That sounds very unbelievable, and it is.
“What a foolish statement”, it sounds bit to dermatologist Susan Bard. “No ingredient in toothpaste has been proven to make your skin tighter.” Health expert Jennifer Wider reacts slightly more mildly. “If toothpaste dries, your skin may feel tighter for a while. But once you are in the shower or washing the toothpaste, that feeling is gone.”
If you ask us, there is only one life hack that really matters: embrace your breasts. Whether they are small, round, full or asymmetrical. Really all breasts are beautiful. And it is also no more than normal that your bosom becomes a little less prism after a while. “As you get older, your skin becomes less elastic. Then the force of gravity comes into play”, says the plastic surgeon Dirk Kremer. In addition, your genes, a pregnancy and your weight can also play a role.
Do you want to counteract these factors? Then you should open your lingerie drawer. Did you know that about 70% of women wear a wrong bet? So be careful not to belong to that group. “If you wear a bad fitting bra, you can change the shape of your breasts. Does your bra offer too little support? That can make your breasts hang faster,” explains Kremer. If necessary, call a professional to have your cup size and perfect behaviour determined.
You can also strengthen your chest muscles – Including your bust – with the right exercises. Think of classics such as push-ups or shelf. Or use two dumbbells and lie on your back on the floor. Then bring your arms right along your body. Lift the dumbbells above your chest, with internally rotating shoulders and your elbows pointing to the sides.
