“We are doing very well,” said Trump. “But they are trying to steal the election. We will never let them do it. Votes cannot be cast after the Poles are closed!” He thereby refers to postal votes, which still have to be counted for a few days in some states.

However, the latter tweet was immediately removed by Twitter, with the message that it contained misleading information. “Some or all of the content shared in this tweet has been questioned and may be misleading about how to participate in elections or other civil lawsuits,” it says.

Trump also shared the messages on Facebook, and labels were added immediately. “The final results may differ from the first counts because the counting can take days or weeks,” it sounds. And also: “The votes are being counted. The winner of the US presidential election is not yet known.”

Biden meanwhile responded via Twitter. “It is not for Donald Trump or me to declare the winner of the election. That is up to the voters,” it sounded. “We feel good about where we are now and believe we are on the way to winning this election.”
