“Unknown disease” kills fifteen in Nigeria

About 15 people have died in Nigeria after contracting “an unknown disease” that authorities are trying to stem the spread.

At least 15 people have died from an unknown illness in Delta state in southern Nigeria, local daily Vanguard reports.

According to his information, the victims are between 18 and 25 years old. Regional authorities have pledged to do everything they can to stem the spread of the disease.

The governor of the state, Ifeanyi Okowa, instructed his health department to “study these cases of death and establish the causes,” the newspaper said.

According to the Vanguard, epidemiologists believe that the deaths in question could be linked to hemorrhagic fever, a viral infection of the same type as dengue, Ebola, and Lassa fever.
