USA: People denied entry bans may reapply for a visa

Most people who were previously denied a US visa due to the temporary entry ban for some Muslim countries are allowed to reapply. The US Department of State reports this on Monday.

President Joe Biden overturned the so-called ‘Muslim ban’ instituted by his predecessor, Donald Trump, on January 20.

A spokesperson for the ministry says that people from the thirteen countries who have been denied a visa before January 20 can submit a new application.

In addition, the application costs must be paid again. Since 2017, about 40,000 people have been denied entry to the United States because of the entry ban.

Under Trump, countries were added to the entry ban and other countries removed. At the end of Trump’s reign, the entry ban applied to Myanmar, Eritrea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Libya, Nigeria, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Venezuela and Yemen.
