At around 6.35 p.m., at Alboinstrasse, he seriously injured two motorcyclists with his Opel Astra. He then stopped his car, got out, and shouted “Allahu akbar”. Then, still, according to the same source, he put a metal box on the roof of his vehicle and said: “No one gets closer or you will all die”.

The man then caused two more accidents. A scooter driver had to be resuscitated at Innsbrucker Platz. A motorcyclist was run over in the Detmolder Straße district, according to the Bild.

The suspect may have mental problems

The individual was subdued and arrested. He had with him a supposed box of ammunition containing a “dangerous object”, according to him. Forensic technicians, however, found nothing suspicious in it, only tools, police said. Traces of explosives, as initially suspected, were also not detected.

An investigation is underway to establish whether the Iraqi, who appears to have mental health problems, has an Islamist background.
