White men will be the last to get economic aid under Joe Biden

Due to the economic crisis caused by the pandemic, Joe Biden said aid priority would be given to businesses owned by African and Latin Americans, Asians, Native Americans, and women.

In a video posted on Twitter this 11 January, Joe Biden announced his priorities in the fight against the crisis caused by the coronavirus. The President-elect said that assistance from his economic stimulus package would primarily target minorities and women.

“Our priority will be Black, Latino, Asian, and Native American owned small businesses, women-owned businesses, and finally having equal access to resources needed to reopen and rebuild,” President-elect Biden said in the video

The program will focus on small businesses “that are not wealthy and well connected, that face real economic hardship through no fault of their own.”

“We will make a concerted effort to help small businesses in disadvantaged communities […] that have faced systemic barriers to relief,” he said.

Biden to present its economic recovery plan on Thursday

Joe Biden will present the basis for a new stimulus plan for the US economy on 14 January, as the announcement of a drop in employment last month in the US proves, in his view, the urgent need for help for the population and businesses.

The President-elect, who will take office on 20 January, said he would, among other things, support direct assistance of $2,000 per household and an increase in the minimum wage to $15 per hour.

He has stated his intention to concentrate his efforts on small businesses and urban commerce.
