WHO: “Drinking alcohol does not protect against coronavirus”

Alcoholic beverages do not help against the spread of the new coronavirus. The European branch of the World Health Organization (WHO), therefore, goes against the rumor that is circulating.

Fear and fake news have created a dangerous myth, namely that the consumption of spirits can kill the coronavirus, can be read in a message on the website of WHO Europa. “That myth is not true,” it categorically sounds.

The WHO has just pointed out that alcohol consumption can make someone more vulnerable to the disease.

“Drinking alcohol is associated with a range of illnesses and mental problems that can just make a person more vulnerable,” it warns.

Alcohol compromises the immune system and increases the risk of adverse health effects. And that’s why people should always keep their alcohol consumption as low as possible, especially during the coronary pandemic, it concluded.
