Three people suspected of stealing a suitcase containing $150,000 in cash from Robert Mugabe appeared this week in Zimbabwean court.
According to the Zimbabwean daily “The Herald”, the robbery took place on the property of the former head of state in Zvimba, a suburb of Harare, the capital.
Constance Mugabe, a woman related to Mr. Mugabe and one of the defendants, had the keys of the house and took the opportunity to get their hands on the precious case, with the complicity of two employees of the residence of the former president, according to the accusation.
They were arrested after using their booty to buy cars, houses and livestock. Prosecutor Teveraishe Zinyemba has released them, but the defendants are under judicial control and are expected to appear again on 24 January.
A fourth suspect is still wanted by the police.
