A 25-year-old activist pelted Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison with an egg during a campaign event. The woman said she wanted to protest against Australian migration policy. Parliamentary elections will take place in ten days in the country.
The prime minister attended a meeting of the Country Women’s Association of Australia in Albury, some two hundred miles southeast of the capital Canberra. Images of the incident show how a young woman threw an egg at Morrison’s head.
However, the egg bounced without breaking and the woman was immediately worked on the ground by the Prime ‘security staff. The young woman wanted to denounce the government’s immigration policy but gave no further explanation of her action against Australian media. She called throwing an egg one of the “most innocent things you can do”.
Cases
The prime minister got off with fright and said he was particularly concerned about an older lady who fell during the riot. “I helped her straight and embraced her,” he wrote in a series of tweets, in which he also said, “cowardly activists who have no respect for anyone”. At the time, the head of government was convinced that the activist was part of a protest group that invades Australian farms to argue against animal suffering.
Egg boy
Possibly the woman was inspired by “egg boy”, the teenager from Melbourne who smashed an egg at the end of March on the head of controversial senator Fraser Anning, who was standing in front of the cameras. A video of the incident went around the world in no time.
