After Morocco, it is Kenya’s turn to register the Russian anti-Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccine, the Russian Direct Investment Fund announced on Wednesday.
The Russian anti-Covid-19 Sputnik V vaccine has been registered in Kenya, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RFPI) announced on Wednesday. This is the authorization for the emergency use of the vaccine to use it in Kenya.
“Sputnik V is thus approved in 47 countries with a cumulative population of over 1.2 billion people,” said the RFPI press release.
In the footsteps of Morocco
On March 9, Morocco announced that it had taken the same decision, following negotiations between the Moroccan Ministry of Health and the RFPI, organized by Morocco’s Russian economic mission.
“Given the role that the kingdom plays among the states of the African continent, the signing of a long-term contract with the Moroccan side can become an important support in the organization of deliveries of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in other countries in Africa,” the statement said.
Sputnik V is one of the three most approved coronavirus vaccines by national regulators. It is currently registered in more than 40 countries.
