‘Apple is working on a new version of classic iPod Touch’

Apple is working on a new generation of iPod Touch models. The current model dates from 2015 and no new one has appeared since. The iPod Touch first appeared in 2007.

Apple would like a cheap new iOS device on the shelves to sell its services to customers who do not want or cannot pay for iPhone, claims the Japanese site Macotakara. This often relies on sources at suppliers, so that concrete information is lacking, such as when products come out. For example, the blog early knew the dimensions and functions of the new iPad Pro.

The claim is in line with what Apple director Tim Cook said earlier: Apple would like to release a new service this year. This is probably a streaming service for, for example, series. Apple already has a music streaming service with Music.

USB-C

Macotakara knows nothing about the specifications and functions of the new iPod Touch. The site also states that Apple is transferring iPhones from the lightning cable to the newer and faster usb-c, but it is unknown if the company is ready for the step this year, or that usb-c is only in a next generation of iPhones. Apple releases MacBooks and iPad Pros with only usb-c, but the cheaper iPad and new iPhones still have Apple’s own lightning connection.
