Apple tackles after online protest: bagel-emoji gets a layer of cream cheese

A group of dissatisfied bagel fans and iPhone users get their hands on at home: Apple is now using the bagel emoji that will soon be available. The bagel now gets a layer of cream cheese, reports Emojipedia.

The new emoji of a barley bagel announced by Apple earlier this month could not please everyone. Loyal bagel enthusiasts went to the internet to express their dissatisfaction: the bagel, for example, looked like it was coming out of a package, and the lack of siege was also a problem.

“It looks like something you get from a cardboard box in the freezer section at Walmart (an American supermarket chain, ed.),” Writes on Twitter, Downtown Josh Brown. “I’m organizing a march in New York City against Apple’s just-revealed bagel emoji, which comes out with the next iOS update. It looks like something you get from a cardboard box in the freezer section at Walmart. This insult will not stand.”

Even Philadelphia jumped on the cart. The cream cheese producer shared a poll that was filled in by more than 10,000 users. Little surprisingly, most people chose a low cream cheese, instead of “dry, sad bagels”.

Apple apparently has heard the complaints, because the emoji now gets a makeover. Instead of the artificially round baking, iPhone users get a traditional looking sandwich with cream cheese. The new bagel will probably be available next month, in the next update of iOS 12.

Moreover, every tech company has a different bagel emoji. Both Twitter and Google chose a layer of cream cheese. At Samsung and Microsoft, the bagel remains un-invested to date.
