Beach in Barcelona cleared due to bomb report
In Barcelona, the police have evacuated the famous Platja de Sant Sebastià beach today after the discovery of a possible jump rig in the water, the local police report.
A team of divers from the Guardia Civil is busy locating the explosive that is submerged in the sea a few meters from the coast.
According to Guardia Civil sources, the device is located in the water, and a safety perimeter has been established as prevention until the deactivation protocol is started. The type of explosive device is not yet known or how old it is.
Perhaps it is an explosive from the Spanish civil war, reports the newspaper El Periódico. Experts from the army will dismantle the jump rig, which is approximately 25 meters from the beach at 3 meters depth, only tomorrow. Until then, the beach remains wholly closed.
