Bizarre: Motorist tests positive for all detectable illegal drugs

The police of the Spanish island of Ibiza drew their eyes when they stopped a motorist in the early hours of New Year’s Day, who then tested positive for all drugs in the book. The 31-year-old man was stopped after he was driving wild and with fits and starts.

The agents discovered that the dangerous driver had taken every possible drug that could detect on their equipment. That includes cannabis, amphetamines, methamphetamines, cocaine and opioids, according to the city administration. Whether or not the man had drunk too much is not clear, but is actually irrelevant given his condition.

During a search in the vehicle, the police found pink and purple pills, cocaine and a brown substance that had not yet been identified. The thirty-something may expect a hefty fine, as well as six points on his driving license and a possible prison sentence of up to six months, writes The Olive Press. It is not known whether he is a tourist or a local.

The popular holiday island of Ibiza is in any case known worldwide for its festivities. In 2016, the tourism council of the island was still furious after the song ‘I Took A Pill in Ibiza’ by Michael Posner skyrocketed the European charts, with an apparent tribute to drug use on the island. Tourism manager Vicent Ferrer invited the writer of the song to come and discover Ibiza. “The island has so much more to offer than its nightlife,” he emphasized to AFP. “We have culture, beaches, gastronomy. Drugs and alcohol can be found at any tourist destination. That only we are pushed into this box is not fair.”
