Cameroonian President Paul Biya will run for the seventh time in the presidential elections scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2018.
A supporter of the president decided to show his support by putting herself completely naked, the skin covered with paint with the name and photo of the politician tagged on her body.
Another supporter was also seen showing a condom wearing the president’s face.
According to several political analysts, the race for the 2018 presidency will take place in a delicate and unstable context, where it is feared that the country will slip into a civil war while the violence continues in the South West and North West regions.
Internet users have reacted to the act. According to Manbo, who said that “You really don’t need to go this extreme to show support or loyalty for a politician. There are better ways to do that other than going naked. Well I don’t blame her even in Giant of Africa, people trek miles for politicians, drink mud water and other inane acts just for politicians. Crazy people everywhere though.”
Another user also added that “Africans will not seize to amaze me, this is the same Paul biya that is killing fellow Cameroonians, the same man that has being in power for more than 20 years.”
“I just hope Paul Biya recognises you went naked for him and appreciates your loyalty.”
On August 7, 2018, the election’s governing body, ELECAM, released a list of nine candidates, including Paul Biya, who wants to extend his 35 years in power.
However, it is feared that elections will be free and fair, especially in troubled English-speaking areas over the past two years, when residents began to demand more autonomy and even independence.
