Cameroon confirms its first case of coronavirus
The minister specifies in a press release that the patient is a Frenchman who arrived on February 24 in Yaoundé. The porter is of French nationality, and he is 58 years old.
The virus carrier is “a French citizen, 58 years old, who arrived in Yaoundé on February 24,” he said. The patient was placed “in isolation in a care center” of the central hospital of Yaoundé, one of the leading public hospitals, according to Manaouda Malachie, who ensures that it is “active surveillance set up by the Cameroon which made it possible to detect this case”.
On February 19, a press release from the Minister of Public Health spoke of “strengthening vigilance”.
A system for detecting possible cases has been set up at airports, ports, and other border posts in the country. In addition, a green line – the 1510 – is operational from 8 to 16 hours to respond to all the concerns of citizens.
