Do you want to avoid cold? Then follow these tips

A tingling in the throat, annoying sniffing, constant fatigue and breathing through only one nostril. The season of colds is not that ok and is often accompanied by the above ailments.

Do you want to be spared from that annoying tinker? Then we have some tips for you.

1. Make your lunch yourself

When we are busy or stressed by work, we often go for a sugary snack that we then elevate to a worthy meal. Choose a nutritious lunch that gives your immune system a boost (think of a lot of fruit, vegetables, and whole grains).

2. Relax

Stress lowers your resistance to infections, making you more prone to a cold or flu. Make a little bit of time for some relaxation every day because a relaxed mind creates a healthier body.

3. Allow yourself to massage

The stress hormone cortisol weakens your immune system. Experts say that a massage of just 20 minutes can reduce your cortisol level. Are you unable to schedule an appointment in your busy schedule? Then let yourself be massaged by your partner or try it yourself with a foam roller.

4. Take a walk every day

Studies show that a brisk walk of 30 to 45 minutes gives your immune system a boost. The fresh air and the extra sunlight can also work wonders.

5. Laugh

Laughter goes against stress and strengthens your immune system. The perfect excuse to view a few episodes of your favourite sitcom.

6. Drink more tea

Preferably one that is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients such as nettle or dandelion.

7. Drink more wine

No, not a whole bottle, but rather a glass a day. New Zealand research shows that the flavonoids in red wine make you less likely to catch a cold…. Cheers!

8. Rest enough

Did none of the above tips help you, and – probably because of that sniveling colleague have you become ill? Then give yourself some rest, let your tasks lie down, and get well under the wool early.
