Eto’o attacked for his support to Paul Biya, one of his relatives reacts!

During the recent visit of the president of the CAF and the chairman of the standardization committee to the palace of unity in Cameroon to meet with President Paul Biya, the former FC Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o was among the guests.

After this important meeting, which focused on the organization of the CAN in Cameroon, Samuel Eto’o has given his impressions to the local pressure. He said he was very pleased with the meeting and especially the decision of CAF President Ahmad to reiterate his agreement in Cameroon for the organization of the CAN to be disputed in June 2019.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, Samuel Eto’o has not failed to express his support for the outgoing head of state Paul Biya, despite his 36 years in power and currently 85 years, in this election period.

This support has aroused strong criticism of the former captain of the indomitable lions of Cameroon.

Many Cameroonians have found this position of Eto’o as “immoral”, the fact that the legend of football is on the side of the “dictatorship”. Eto’o expressed himself on this subject by indicating that he is “free of his choices”. But beyond his reaction, a close to him also wanted to react to criticism of Cameroonians.

“Cameroonians are very ungrateful in general. We should respect Eto’o, if only for what he did for the country. If he decides to support Paul Biya, it’s his choice. He did not force anyone to follow him. In this country, we do not respect the icons, and it’s a shame”.

Eto’o, is considered by many as one of the most important figures that Cameroon has known. He was indeed a successful footballer, winning many titles including the African Cup of Nations (2000, 2002), the UEFA Champions League (2009, 2010) and the African Ballon d’Or (2004, 2009, 2010, 2011).
