Facebook launches dating app
Facebook plunges into the dating market. The company has created a platform for love that is available from today in twenty countries, including the United States, Canada, Mexico, Suriname, and Thailand. Facebook Dating will be coming to Europe next year.
To be able to use the platform, people must register via Facebook. The app then suggests other users with whom there might be a click, “based on your preferences, interests and other things you do on Facebook.”
They can then respond to the profile of others. “All your activities on Dating remain on Facebook Dating, they aren’t shared with the rest of Facebook,” emphasizes Facebook.
Users can set their Instagram posts to appear on their dating profile automatically. Stories that people post on Facebook and Instagram can soon also be forwarded to the dating service.
Users can also put their own Facebook friends and Instagram followers on a secret ‘crush list’. If the other person does, they can be introduced to each other. If not, users will not be linked to their friends.
