French army kills the leader of Al-Qaida in North Africa

The French army has killed, Abdelmalek Droukdel, Al-Qaida leader in North Africa. The Defense Minister Florence Parly announced this on Friday.

The leading member of the North African branch of the Islamic terror organization was knocked out on June 3, along with several close associates.

This happened dur ing a mission by a French unit in the north of Mali with the support of local partners.

Droukdel, born 50 years ago in Algeria, was also known by his war name Abu Mosaab Abdel Forest or Abu Moussab.

Parly also announced that a leading member of the Islamic State in the Sahara region, Mohamed el Mrabat, was captured last month.
