Google builds its own car factory for the production of self-driving cars. In the American state of Michigan, the world’s first factory for self-driving cars. According to Waymo, the special division set up for robot cars, the factory offers employment to 400 people.
13.6 million dollars are invested in the construction. Other American states would also like to have the factory, but parent company Alphabet from Google and Waymo reportedly tacked, when the state of Michigan offered 8 million dollars subsidy.
For the time being it is not the intention that completely own cars will be developed. Waymo is currently using a number of Pacifica pacers, an MPV, for pilot projects in Arizona. But the company already has contracts for the purchase of another 62,000 Pacificas and 20,000 Jaguars from the model I-Pace.
In the new factory, the cars will be equipped with technology developed by Google, which makes autonomous driving possible. Google has been developing robot cars since 2009.
