A few days after the South Korean Samsung, the Chinese manufacturer Huawei, in turn, proposed a foldable smartphone. The device, called Mate X, was shown on Sunday at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.
The latest showpiece of Huawei has two screens. A smartphone screen on the front and a second screen on the back. With that you can, for example, show people who you have photographed live the result.
When folded open, the two screens form one large screen without a seam, like a tablet, with a diagonal of 8 inches (about 20 centimeters).
Mate X also supports 5G technology. A 1-gigabyte film could thus be downloaded in three seconds.
The new smartphone clearly targets the top of the market: it would reach the market by the middle of this year with a target price of 2,299 euros.
On Wednesday, Samsung presented its foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. It has a 7.2-inch screen open.
Samsung is the global market leader in the smartphone market. Huawei and American Apple are the biggest competitors.
