Zhu Xiaodong is sentenced to death for killing and freezing his wife for three months.
A 31-year-old Chinese man was sentenced to death Thursday by a Shanghai court.
He is accused of murdering his wife and keeping his body in a freezer for three months.
Zhu Xiaodong strangled his wife in 2016 after a fight.
He then wrapped his victim’s body in a blanket and placed it in a freezer on the balcony of their home, said several Chinese media who relayed the appearance Zhu Xiaodong.
For the next three months, Mr. Zhu used his late wife’s money to pay for trips and hotel rooms with another woman.
“He spent without restraint and showed no signs of remorse,” the court said in support of his decision.
In order to conceal the death of his wife, the man pretended to be on social networks.
But he finally went to the authorities just before his father-in-law’s birthday party, where his wife was expected.
The case had stunned the general public in Shanghai. And the victim’s parents had publicly called for the husband to be sentenced to death.
