Indonesia’s Sinabung volcano erupted Friday, spewing volcanic ash 2,800 meters high, the geological agency said.
The eruption lasted more than six minutes. No injuries have been reported, according to the agency. Residents should stay away from an area 4 to 5 kilometers from the top of the volcano.
The volcano has erupted regularly in recent years. In 2016, nine people were killed in an eruption, which released a pyroclastic flow, a mixture of extremely hot pieces of rock, gas, and ash.
Indonesia has the largest number of active volcanoes worldwide, namely 127.
