The international police organization ‘Interpol’ has dismantled an international pedophile network on the dark web. As part of the operation, nine people were already arrested in Thailand, Australia, and the United States.
The operation, launched by Interpol in 2017 after the discovery of pedopornographic material on a website on the dark web with 63,000 members, also ensured that “fifty children could be saved,” said Interpol.
Investigators from different countries have analyzed the found material, which includes the abuse of eleven boys under the age of 13. They located IP addresses in Thailand, Australia, and the United States. In Bulgaria, the cybercrime units have deactivated the server of the website, “on which new material was posted every week for several years”.
The main website manager, who lives in Thailand, was identified as the perpetrator of the abuse of the 11 boys, including his cousin
Nine people were arrested, says Interpol. The main website manager, who lives in Thailand, was identified as the perpetrator of the abuse of the 11 boys, including his cousin. Another webmaster from Australia was arrested in possession of thousands of pedopornographic files that were recorded in Thailand and Australia.
He was often seen in the images as the main culprit of child abuse, one of whom was only 15 months old at the time of the facts. The two men were already sentenced to 146 and 40 years in prison respectively in their home countries.
Trust
In the US several people were arrested who had a relationship of trust with the victims, such as a person who abused his two-year-old half-brother.
The investigation, in which 60 member states of the police organization are participating, may continue for a few more years since it is a very extensive network. In addition to the fifty rescued children, whose age and nationality was not released, the investigators want to identify a hundred others who may have fallen victim to the network.
