Rumors made it that Jackie Chan has Coronavirus and is currently at quarantined home. The actor breaks the silence on his Instagram post: “Please don’t worry, I’m not in quarantine.”
Hong Kong superstar Jackie Chan appeared in a recent video showing him dining and singing with high-ranking police officers in a restaurant, along with other artists such as Eric Tsang and Alan Tam. Internet users had wondered why the dinner attendees were not wearing masks amid a coronavirus outbreak that also hit Hong Kong.
An Internet user then claimed in an online forum that 60 people, including Jackie Chan, had been quarantined because there were four cases of contagion at the hotel where they were dining.
On Thursday, the movie star denied the rumor that he had contracted the virus. On one of his posts on Instagram, the actor “thank” all his fans for their “concern”. He revealed to have excellent health and told them not to “worry.” “Thanks for everybody’s concern! I’m safe and sound, and very healthy. Please don’t worry, I’m not in quarantine. I hope everyone stays safe and healthy too,” he concluded his message.
The 65-year-old actor also thanked the fans who sent him face masks. He asked his staff to donate them through official organizations to those who need them most.
Cure for Coronavirus
Jackie Chan has promised a reward for those who come up with a cure for the new Coronavirus. The Hong Kong actor and stuntman announced this on the Chinese social media platform Weibo.
“Science and technology are the keys to overcoming the Coronavirus, and I believe that many people have the same idea as me and hope that a cure can be developed as quickly as possible. I now have a “naive” idea. Regardless of which individual or organization comes with it, I want to pledge 1 million yuan.”
The now 65-year-old film star emphasizes that it is not about money. “I don’t want to see how the once-bustling streets are empty and watch my countrymen fight a virus until some die, while they should enjoy life.”
