On Friday night the Golden Calves 2018 were awarded in Utrecht, the Dutch film prizes. Most of the figurines (five, including that of best film) went to the film ‘Banker van het Verzet’. ‘In Blue’ won in three categories, including for best direction and scenario.
‘Banker of the Resistance’ talks about the Van Hall brothers (Barry Atsma and Jacob Dewig) who financed the Dutch resistance in the Second World War. The film attracted more than 400,000 visitors in Dutch cinemas.
Filmmaker Wouter van Luijn, who lost his life in July during a holiday on Mallorca, won a Golden Calf posthumously. He received his award for his editing work in the drama ‘WE’.

The Abraham Tuschinski Fund Golden Calf of the Public went to the film Banker van het Verzet. Producer NL Film and TV has also received a cash prize of €30,000 to spend on a new Dutch film production.
Winner Golden Calf for Film Culture
Monique van de Ven received the Golden Calf for Film Culture on behalf of the board of the Dutch Film Festival on the opening night of the festival.
