Man breaks record: He spends two and half hours in ice cube

An Austrian has set the world record for being on the ice by passing through a ferry, covered up to his neck, 2 hours, 30 minutes and 57 seconds.

Austrian extreme sports athlete Josef Koeberl on 5 September, broke the world record for the most prolonged immersion in an ice cube box where he held 2 hours, 30 minutes, and 57 seconds.

As he stood in a simple swimsuit, the bin was filled with ice up to his shoulders, which required more than 200 kilograms of ice, the Associated Press reported. It was installed in the main square in the town of Melk, a hundred kilometers from Vienna, and Josef Koeberl smashed his own record.

The man did not try to hide from journalists that he was feeling “a wave of pain”. “I visualize and tap into my positive emotions so that I can dampen this wave of pain. This is how I can endure,” he explained.

After leaving the club, he said the sun was “really awesome” to feel on his back. However, he decided to celebrate his victory uniquely: by eating … an ice cream.

Towards a new record

The previous record was set by Josef Koeberl last year in the Austrian capital. The athlete then held 2 hours, 8 minutes, and 47 seconds.

“I feel perfectly good. I could have stayed a little longer. I didn’t think it would go so well,” he explained to the Austria Presse Agentur (APA).

Josef Koeberl now plans to break his own record once again next year in Los Angeles, the Associated Press added.
