Valkyrie, the superheroine portrayed by actress Tessa Thompson, becomes the first LGBTQ superhero in the Marvel Universe, the studio recently announced.
There has long been speculation about a homosexual superhero to increase the diversity within the Marvel team. “There will certainly be LGBT superheroes, new characters, but also one we already know,” said Marvel boss Kevin Feige earlier this year. “Yes, they will be both homosexuals.” During an interview at Comic-Con International in San Diego, he confirmed it was Valkyrie.
The film ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is said to have already included a scene that showed that Valkyrie (also) falls on women, but it was eventually scrapped. According to Feige, we will see such scenes in the next Thor movie: ‘Love And Thunder’. That film is expected in November 2021.
