In Kenya, a 42-year-old woman was arrested by police on charges of killing her four children, ages 2 to 8. The suspected murderer poisoned her children and shared the photos on the WhatsApp group.
Beatrice Mwende Kimotho, a mother of 6 children, is said to have caulked her children in the house before making them ingest a poison.
The woman’s brother, Jackson Kimani Kimotho, was worried and had to called the police. He also made the shocking revelation that his sister, after killing her children, would then have shared the children’s pictures in a WhatsApp group and asked for prayers to be offered to them.
Upon entering the premises of a two-bedroom house, police found the lifeless bodies of the four children on their beds with traces of vomit and blood in their mouths.
Samuel Waweru, Naivasha County police commander, confirmed the facts and said the suspect was in police custody.
“The accused first told her friend that her children had been admitted to the Naivasha sub-county hospital with chest pain before confessing a few hours later that she had strangled them,” says the commander.
Close to the case, a police officer reveals: “She (the suspect) in turn strangled the four children and slept in the same house until today (Saturday) morning when she moved away from the house”. He adds: “We are in the very early stages of the investigation and at this level, we cannot disclose many details”
At the same time, investigations are still underway to try to shed light on the reasons for this tragedy.
