Myopic hunter sees neighbour for deer and shoots her dead
A hunter was sentenced to three years in prison by a court in the American state of New York, because he shot his neighbour at the end of November 2017. The 34-year-old Thomas Jadlowski is short-sighted and saw her for a deer at nightfall.
Jadlowski fired a shot in the village of Sherman with his shotgun and hit the 43-year-old victim Rosemary Billquist from about 200 meters while she was walking with her dogs. When he heard the woman scream, he rushed to her aid and informed the emergency services. Billquist was taken to the hospital, but died of her injuries.
Jadlowski was known to be guilty of culpable negligence resulting in death and hunting after sunset. He was sentenced to three years in prison.
Every year in the US and Canada about 1,000 people are shot down by hunters. This is shown by figures from the International Hunter Education Association.
