Netanyahu: “Germany will pay Holocaust survivors extra”

Germany will make more payments to the survivors of the Holocaust. That is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced today. The German Ministry of Finance confirms that more than 5,000 people receive an additional monthly amount.

“We have been in talks with the government of Germany to give extra aid to Holocaust survivors, in addition to the aid, we have been giving. This is important, these people deserve it, and I thank the government of Germany” Netanyahu stated in a video on Twitter.

It is, according to the prime minister, in addition to the support of the Israeli government.

According to the Israeli Ministry of Finance, about 220,000 Holocaust survivors live in Israel, the National Statistical Office estimates that by the end of 2017, 212,300 people lived in the country that survived the Holocaust.
